**Dick Broadcasting Regretfully Announces discontinuation of 960 am Bet on the Bull effective May 30th, 2025**

[Kinston, NC -May 8, 2025]  — Dick Broadcasting today announced the difficult decision to discontinue operations of its AM radio station, 960 AM, Bet on The Bull, effective May 30th, 2025.  This decision comes as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to align its media offerings with evolving audience preferences and media consumption habits.

“For decades, 960 AM Bet on the Bull, has been a valued part of our local community, providing information, entertainment, and connection,” said Tony Denton, Market Manager. “However, as listening habits change, we must focus our resources on stations that best position us for future growth, including our Digital platforms.”

The company’s review of audience data, market trends, and continued evolution of technology, indicated that the AM station no longer aligns with our long-term vision for audience engagement and how community members consume audio content.  Dick Broadcasting remains committed to serving the community through our other media properties: including 95.1 WRNS FM, BOB 93.3 WERO FM, WXQR Candela 105.5 FM, 92.3 FM and 101.1 FM The River, our digital platforms, and marketing solutions for local businesses, and will continue to explore innovative ways to deliver high-quality engaging content.

Through this change our commitment to our community and listeners has not changed, we strive to create compelling and engaging content on a daily basis. Listeners of Bet on the Bull are encouraged to stay connected with us through our other stations and Platforms listed in the previous paragraph, where we continue to provide the information, music, and entertainment they value.

“We are deeply grateful to our loyal listeners, advertisers, and staff who have supported 960 AM Bet on the Bull over the years,” added Tony Denton. “We remain excited about new opportunities for content delivery and community engagement, especially as our community in Eastern North Carolina continues to experience tremendous growth.”
